Peoria Historical Society’s River City Tour winds along Grandview Drive and takes place on Friday beginning at 11 am. The 2017 BioBlitz scientific investigation will take place at Singing Woods Nature Preserve (located at 715 W Singing Woods Rd. in Edelstein) on Friday beginning at noon to document as many living things as possible in a 24-hour period. The majority of investigators will be from state agencies and universities, but the public is also invited to observe the survey and learn from nature experts. The Peoria Park District ELITE Community Outreach 4th of July Fundraiser will take place at the RiverPlex on Tuesday beginning at 5 pm. ELITE programs target youth and ex-offenders in the Peoria area. Included with admission is reserved parking to view the Peoria fireworks from the grassy area surrounding the RiverPlex, concessions plus the use of the RiverPlex facilities such as the rock climbing wall, the pool, indoor basketball and volleyball courts and the totally tots indoor playground.
