The 2018 City of Peoria Online Budget Challenge will be held tonight (Thursday) Westminster Presbyterian Church (located at 1420 W. Moss Ave. in Peoria) beginning at 6 pm .  Featuring a public budget discussion featuring an overview of the budget and the opportunity to talk to department heads, the City has also released an interactive tool that invites residents to experience the types of policy choices involved in balancing the city’s budget. The city faces a $7.9 million budget deficit for 2018 and residents are encouraged to take the challenge and provide their thoughts and feedback. Participants begin with the current deficit amount, which will increase or decrease depending on their spending choices; the goal is to balance the budget by best allocating dollars across city services.
