Come learn the significance of Mishumaa Saba and Zawadi at Luthy Botanical Garden’s annual Kwanzaa Display. Learn about this African-American holiday and see our display of African plants while you enjoy the beautiful holiday surroundings of the Poinsettia Show. Admission is $2 for adults (13 and up) and $1 for children (2-12). Children 2 and under are free. Hours are 10 am to 5 pm Tuesday-Saturday, Noon to 5 pm on Sundays, closed on Mondays. A classic comic with great jokes and perfect comedy timing, Chili’s been a friend of the Bob and Tom show and a writer for Jay Leno on the Tonight Show since the 90’s! The Peoria Rivermen take on the Rockford Icehogs at 7 pm at the Civic Center Arena on Saturday night. Then on Sunday, they play the Iowa Stars at 3 pm. Nick Gaza, seen on Drew Carey, Becker, and Malcolm in the Middle,
will perform at the Jukebox Comedy Club on Thursday, Friday, and

This Friday night, the Neurons will be performing at the
Contemporary Art Center’s Live at the Five Spot from 5:30 pm – 7:30

Forest Park Nature Center will host Holiday Shop & Stroll this
Friday night from 6 pm – 8:30 pm. Experience an evening stroll on
a forest path lit with luminaries, enjoy holiday musicians,
storytelling and caroling, hot wassail and homemade goodies, view
the artwork in the Nature Art Show and Sale, and shop for nature
related and eco-friendly items in the unique Trailhead Nature

The male a cappella group, Chapter 6, will perform Friday night at

The Burnett Family Singers are appearing at the Apollo to benefit

Fifteen regional artists set up art fair style in The Peoria Art
Guild’s gallery for the Artists’ Trunk Show. Featuring numerous
handmade holiday gifts including jewelry, glass, and ceramics for

The IESA State Cheer Championship will be held in the Civic Center

This Saturday from 11 am – 2 pm is Santa’s Open House at the
RiverPlex. For a small fee, children will be able to have a

The Midwest Cheerleading Championship will be held in the Civic

Tonight Washington is hosting their annual Old-Fashioned
Candlelight Stroll & Sing. There will be free carriage rides from 6

until 9 pm.

The Festival of Lights Holiday Cruise is this Saturday from noon-
2:30 pm. Tickets are $34 for adults, children 4 – 12 $17, and free
for children 3 & under. The matinée features a hot homemade buffet,
two-hour cruise and musical entertainment. Advance reservations are

The Bradley University Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band present A

Forest Park Nature Center will host Tom & Chris Kastle: A Christmas
Concert Saturday night at 7 pm. The holiday is celebrated from the
coldest seaports of the Arctic Circle, to the balmy tropical

The Peoria Ballet’s Nutcracker opens Saturday at the Peoria Civic
Center Theater beginning at 7:30 pm. with another perfomance on
Sunday at 2 pm. Tickets are $22, $37 and $42 for adults, student
tickets are $17.

The Peoria Mustangs will take on St. Louis Saturday at 7:15 pm at
the Owens Center Recreation Rink next to Lakeview. After the game,
join the Mustangs in a 30 minute session of open skating.

The Fon du Lac Park Center’s Big Band Dance is also Saturday night
from 7 pm – 10 pm at the Fon du Lac Park District Administration
Center. Nancy West & the Colleagues will perform. Admission is $3.

On Sunday, Wildlife Prairie Park hosts their annual Old Fashion
Christmas from 11 am – 3 pm. Make your own Christmas ornaments and
pine cone bird feeders, enjoy the fire place as you visit Santa in
our rustic log room, go caroling to the animals, and more. Lunch
will be available for purchase, but everything else is free.
Admission for adults 13 & over is $5.50, children 4 – 12 are $3.50,
and members and children 3 & under are free.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral celebrates its 31st
“Sing-It-Yourself Messiah” at 2:30 pm on Sunday, featuring George
Frideric Handel’s oratorio and its resounding “Hallelujah Chorus.”
People attending need not be singers to enjoy this concert. Copies
of the score will be available for purchase at the performance for
people who wish to sing or follow along. Refreshments will be

The Poinsettia Show continues at Luthy Bontanical Garden. Each of
the trees will be decorated in a different theme, including
“Holiday Spirit,” “Southwest,” and “Walden Pond.” Regular
