Candlelight Walks of their Poinsettia Show — under the warm glow

Friday marks a new event for the East Peoria Festival of Lights,
the Festival of Lights Craft Show. Start your holiday shopping with
the craft vendors at the FOLEPI Building . In addition to crafts,
there will also be carnival rides and food available. The craft
show will be open for two days from Noon – 9 pm. Admission is
free.

On Saturday, the Festival of Lights annual Parade of Lights will
take place on three miles off of Washington Street starting on one
side of the city and ending just past downtown. The parade features
40 floats shaped entirely from lights, including the chopper
motorcycle float illuminated with LED lights, a 70-foot long float
of the famous Clydesdale horse team pulling a delivery wagon, the
starship Enterprise illuminated with 48,000 LED light bulbs, and
the 95-foot-long smoke-spewing China dragon. The parade will be

The East Peoria Festival of Lights Historic Holiday Traditions
takes place Sunday. Take a step back in time at the 128-year-old
Doering Homeplace during open houses on November 30 or December 7
only. Decorations include 1800s-style handmade holiday ornaments.
Hours are from 2 pm – 4 pm, and 6 pm – 8 pm November 30th, and 2 pm

Tim Cavanagh, one of the all-time classic comics to come out of
Chicago and Bob & Tom favorite, will be appearing at the Jukebox

Sunday, an All-Star Holiday Concert will be held at 3 pm at

The Oresteia, adapted by Bradley students, continues tonight
through Saturday at 8 pm each night at the Hartmann Center for the
Performing Arts. Justice, sexual politics, violence, and the
indomitable strength of the human spirit to rise above terror
resonate throughout Aeschylus’ masterpiece, the first dramatic

Peoria’s oldest running race, the Turkey Trot, takes place Sunday
at Detweiller Park. The race features a 4-mile run. The top two
finishers in each division receive a trophy and a turkey,

A 1/2 mile youth fun-run will take place immediately before the

On Saturday, history comes to life at Sommer Park as Civil War soldiers construct winter quarters and prepare for their winter encampment from 10 am – 5 pm. Living Historians in authentic uniforms will use period tools and construction methods to build handmade wooden shelters to protect themselves from the approaching winter weather. Also on Friday, Peoria Players Theatre proudly welcomes the return
of a Peoria audience favorite, Forever Plaid. The critically
acclaimed show is an affectionate revue of the close-harmony “guy
groups” (e.g. The Four Aces, The Four Freshmen) that reached the
height of their popularity during the 1950s. Performances run
November 7-9 and 12-16 with all shows beginning at 7:30 pm except
the Sunday matinees, which being at 2:30 pm. Tickets are $17 for

The Peoria Rivermen take on the Grand Rapids Griffins Saturday
beginning at 7 pm at the Peoria Civic Center Carver Arena.
Post-game concert “Rock What You’ve Got” Tour includes Superchick,

Lou and Peter Berryman will perform at Forest Park Nature Center
at 7 pm on Saturday. With Peter on guitar and Lou on the

The Rock Laser Show begins on Saturday at the Lakeview Museum
Planetarium. The afternoon show on Saturday and Sunday features
Laser Beatles at 3 pm and Laser Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon at 4
pm. The evening shows on Saturdays only feature Laser Zepplin at
7:30 pm, Laser Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon at 8:30 pm, and Laser
Floyd: The Wall at 9:30 pm. Admission is $5 for afternoon shows
and $8 for evening shows with a half price discount for all
