Peoria Zoo’s Behind the Scenes Tour begins at 1:30 pm on Saturday. This hour-long program will take you into areas the public doesn’t normally get to see. You’ll learn many animals facts and see how zookeepers take care of the Zoo’s animal inhabitants. Cost for the tour is $20, which include Zoo admission.

The East Peoria Chamber of Commerce wil host the 3rd Annual RiverFest at RiverFront Park in East Peoria (near Wal-Mart) on Saturday. Event times are 3 – 11 pm. Local restaurants will provide food and there will be a beer garden area for those over 21. Bark For Life, a canine event to fight cancer will be held this Saturday at the East Peoria Riverfront Park with registration opening at 9 am and the walk beginning at 10 am. Participants will take the first lap together with their canines and are thereafter free to walk as much as they want until noon. Illinois’ largest motorcycle festival, the Grand National TT Motorcycle Races, happens on the Peoria Riverfront this Saturday & Sunday.  It all begins with a motorcycle parade starting at PMC Race Park parading to Peoria’s Riverfront Park. There will be vendors at the swap meet, an antique & custom bike show, Easy Rider Teresi Dyno Drags, a food court featuring butterfly pork chops, the “Central Illinois Extreme” motorcycle stunt show, plus two stages of entertainment including a performance by  Little River Band and more.  Admission is $10 with a ride in the parade and/or enter the gate before 6 pm or $15 after 6 pm at the gate.  For more information, click HERE.

Songs from the Woods Concert will take place this Saturday at Forrest Park Nature Center at 7 pm. This month features Andy Cohen.  Concert admission is $7 for adults, $6 for children 12 and under. The Old Time Folk and Country Jam is Sunday at Forest Park Nature Center from 3:30 – 5 pm. Admission is free; however, donations are requested. On Saturday, the Washington Historical Society and the Washington Park District present Walk Where Lincoln Walked, a nine-block walking tour of Washington, IL sites that Abraham Lincoln visited.  The tour begins at 4:30 pm and there will be actors in period costumes at each location to add a realistic feel of what it might have been like to be in that location with Abraham Lincoln.  Dinner is included in the $30 registration fee.  For more info, call 251-1603.

The Peoria Ballet Open House is Saturday from 10 am – 3 pm at it’s new location at 809 W Detweiller Drive.  Meet the instructors and sample classes that will be offered for the upcoming year.  Admission is free.

The Spirit of Peoria RiverBoat will host the Tropical Rock & Roll for Your Soul Jimmy Buffet Night on Saturday evening. The Dockside Cookout will run from 7 – 11 pm, with the cruise running from 8:30 – 10:30 pm. The Rock for the Cure: Komen Benefit Concert is Saturday from 3:30 – 10 pm at the Glen Oak Amphitheatre.  This family friendly concert is a benefit for the Susan Komen Foundation with seven local bands performing. Wildlife Prairie State Park Kid’s Day is this Saturday where kids can view a compact excavator, participate in the American Red Cross Bicycle Rodeo plus bring their bikes to run through the obstacle course.  There will also be a bike helmet safety & fitting, a helmet give-a-way, free fingerprinting kits for children, fire trucks for kids to view and firefighters to explain their equipment and clothing.  Free face painting, miniature golf, train rides, popcorn, drinks, and snow cones will also be avilable.  Admission is free for kids 12 and under, general admission fees apply for adults. The Relay for Life for Washington will take place at the Washington High School Track beginning at 3 pm on Saturday and running through 9 am on Sunday.  For more details on participating, click HERE.

The 3rd Annual Kids’ Day will take place on Saturday from 10 am – 2 pm at The Shoppes at Grand Prairie. Glen Reader & the Countrymen will perform from 4 to 6 pm at Lake Eureka as part of the Eureka sesquicentennial band concert series. Be a part of the Eureka celebratration of its 150th birthday with music, ice cream and baked goods on the shores of scenic Lake Eureka.

The Peoria Municipal Band will perform on Sunday evening beginning at 7:30 pm at the Glen Oak Amphitheatre. Conducted by David Vroman, the band welcomes guests vocalists each week.
