The 47th Fine Art Fair and Kids Art Festival will take place at the Peoria Riverfront this Saturday and Sunday. The Peoria Zoo will also host its Behind the Scenes Tour at the Peoria Zoo from 1:30 – 2:30 pm on Saturday.  This hour-long program will take you into areas the public doesn’t normally get to see.  

The Peoria Park District hosts its popular Return to Hogwarts event this Saturday night from 5-10 pm. The Glen Oak Amphitheatre becomes the Hogwarts castle and grounds for this interactive “Harry Potter”-inspired event that is fun for the entire family.

The Annual Fort Crevecoeur Fall Rendezvous is this weekend allowing visitors to experience a way of life during 1680 to 1850 involving traders and American Indians of the Central Illinois area. Gates open Saturday and Sunday 9 am – 5 pm. Admission is $2 for adults and children younger than 12 are free with an adult. All proceeds go towards the upkeep of Fort Crevecoeur Park.

Pioneer Days is this Sunday at Sommer Park from 1– 4 pm. Jake Johannsen will perform at the Jukebox Comedy Club this weekend.  He has appeared on several late-night talk shows, including the Tonight Show, and over 40 appearances on the David Letterman Late Show.  Showtimes are tonight through Saturday at 8 pm and 10:30 pm each night. Tickets are $19 or $18 with cash, except for the Thursday and the Friday late show which are $12 with cash.

Peoria celebrates its German heritage with its annual Oktoberfest beginning at 5 pm on Friday and continuing through Sunday on the Peoria Riverfront.  Hosted by the Peoria Park District and the German American Central Society, the annual German Festival, showcases German heritage through song, dance, food, drink, cultural exhibits and much more.  There will be German bands and musicians on multiple stages, vendors, food and beer.   Admission is $7 for adults per day or $12 for a weekend pass.  Children 12 & under are free.  For more information, click to go to the Peoria German Society website.

The Wildlife Prairie State Park Off-Road Triathlon/Biathlon is this Saturday at 10 am at the Parkside Pavilion, across the street from the prk.  The triathalon includes a swim, 10k mountain bike race and a 5k trail run.  The Biathaolon includes a 10k mountain bike race and  5k trail run.   The triathalon fee is $30 for  individual adults and $25 for children under 18.  The biathalon fee is $25 for individual adults & children. The annual Illinois River Sweep is this Saturday and begins at Forest Park Nature Center with registration from 8 – 9 am, and the Sweep is from 9 am – Noon.  Hundreds of volunteers will work all along the shores of the river from Chicago to Grafton to pick up litter.  Gloves and all the trash bags you can fill will be provided. Manual High School’s Centennial Banquet & Concert will be held at the Peoria Civic Center on Saturday beginning with the banquet at 6 pm and concert at 8 pm and will feature world renowned jazz pianist Mark Adams with special guest jazz trumpeter Tom Browne. Jukebox Comedy Club presents the Semi-Finals and Finals of their 8th Annual Amateur Tournament. The Illinois Blues Festival is this Friday and Saturday at the Peoria Riverfront and will feature three entertainment stages, musician workshops, artists, merchandise vendors, food and drink. Wildlife Prairie State Park continues its Movie Under the Stars series with Disney’s BOLT on Friday night under the park’s famous tepee shelter. The fee is $12 per carload. Gates open at 7:15 pm and show time is at 8 pm. Ice cream, popcorn, smores & drinks will be available for purchase.
