Wildlife Prairie State Park hosts its Annual Thanksgiving Dinner Buffet Thursday from 11 am – 3 pm. The buffet is $15.99 for adults, $11.99 for ages 4-12 years and free for ages 3 & under. Members receive a 10% discount. Admission to the park, tax & gratuity are not included in the prices above. Limited seating is available and reservations are required. The Third Annual Trot 4 Tots is a two-mile fun run that will take place just prior to the annual Santa Claus Parade on Friday. Runners will trace the parade route through downtown Peoria along an established 2-mile course before an anticipated crowd of 25,000 to 35,000 spectators. The 122nd Annual Parade will step off at 10:15 am Friday in downtown Peoria, featuring costumed characters, novelty walking units, horse units, decorated floats, marching bands, and of course Santa Claus. The parade will be telecast live on WMBD-TV and has been sponsored by South Side Bank for the past 52 years.
Family House will present their Eighth Annual “Christmas Magic” event on Friday immediately following the Santa Claus Parade at the Hotel Pere Marquette. A fundraising event to benefit Family House and its mission of service, Christmas Magic will feature entertainment, activities and lunch for $15 for children and $20 for adults. The Friends of Peoria Public Library will hold their annual Fall Book Sale today through Tuesday, November 10 in the Auditorium of the Main Street Branch of Peoria Public Library at 107 N.E. Monroe. Fans of cartoonist Julie Larson, creator of the Dinette Set cartoon, will have the opportunity to meet her and get her autograph on Saturday between 10 am and noon. The sale is open to the general public on Friday and Saturday from 10 am – 5 pm. Monday is the half-price sale from 10 am – 5 pm and Tuesday is a $3 bag sale from 1 to 6 pm.
The Peoria Charter School Initiative will host a Community Forum on the 4th Floor of the Peoria Civic Center tonight at 5:30 pm.
