A free Corn Stock for Kids Auditioning Workshop will be held Saturday at the Corn Stock Theatre Center (located in Upper Bradley Park) from 1 – 3 pm. Participants will meet the director, music director, and choreographer of the upcoming production of “Cinderella” and find out exactly what to be prepared for when auditioning. Advance registration is not necessary for the workshop and you do not have to attend in order to audition for the show, but workshop attendees will have first choice of audition times.

The Art Auction at the Garden will take place Saturday at Luthy Botanical Garden (located at 2520 N. Prospect – the corner of Prospect & Gift in Peoria). Admission is free.  The auction will feature up to 50 local artists in a variety of art media. The regular auction will be held from 10 am – 5 pm and the silent auction will be held from 5 – 9 pm with hors d’oeuvres and drinks being served during this time. All of the art pieces to be auctioned can be viewed at the Garden before the event.

The 2012 Midwest Cheerleading & Dance Team Championships will take place at the Peoria Civic Center on Saturday from 9 am – 4 pm and on Sunday from 8 am – 6 pm. A Haitian Benefit Concert will be held on Sunday at the United Presbyterian Church (located at 2400 W. Northmoor Road in Peoria) beginning at 6 pm. The concert will be presented by Bradley University music professor, John Jost, who attended college in Haiti and returns each summer to volunteer for their music camp. The Joyce Thome Benefit for Children’s Hospital will take place on Saturday in the Peoria Civic Center Ballroom beginning at 6 pm. Bald Eagle Day will be presented by Peoria Audubon Society and Forest Park Nature Center on Saturday from 10 am – 5 pm at the Nature Center. Each year hundreds of bald eagles over-winter in the Illinois River Valley. There will be a presentation and tours to view Bald Eagles along the river.
