Folepi’s Winter Wonderland will be open beginning Thursday night through New Year’s Eve at the VFW Post 2078 Park off Springfield Road (located at 123 Par 3 Lane in East Peoria). The 29th Annual Festival of Lights Parade will take place on Saturday in East Peoria beginning at 5:45 pm. The parade features floats shaped entirely from lights, including Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, the chopper motorcycle float illuminated with LED lights, a 70-foot long float of the famous Clydesdale horse team pulling a delivery wagon, Frosty the Snowman, the starship Enterprise illuminated with 48,000 LED light bulbs and the 95-foot-long smoke-spewing China dragon. The 43rd Annual Peoria Turkey Trot will take place on Sunday beginning at 1 pm at Detweiller Park (located at 8327 N. Galena Rd. in Peoria). Rain, shine or snow, Peoria’s oldest running race is a 4-mile run through with the top two finishers in each division receiving a trophy and a turkey (compliments of Kroger).
