University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria will host an Open House tonight (Thursday) from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. To celebrate the completion of construction and renovation work which are in advance of student expansion this year with the addition of first-year medical students in Peoria, the event will include self-guided tours through the building with brief demonstrations every 10 to 15 minutes on various new technologies. The 16th Annual Backpack Peoria will be held at Dream Center Peoria (located at 714 Hamilton Blvd. in Peoria) on Saturday from 9 am – 2 pm. 2500 backpacks filled with school supplies will be given away at the event.
